Description

Our team of experts is recognized for its research work, its new-species domestication and optimization solutions, developing and adapting farming processes, and improving the environmental performance of diets.

We help fish farmers put various protocols into practice on a pilot-project or industrial scale, such as feeding protocols to ensure the health of the fish and the environmental performance of the farms.

The centre for expertise in fish farming’s main motive is to enhance fish farmers’ ability to penetrate new markets. In seizing this opportunity, our industrial partners position themselves within the blue economy movement and contribute to Canada’s food sovereignty. We accompany partners from the ideation stage through commercial application. When required, we complete technical, economic and environmental feasibility studies to validate their projects’ directions and likelihood of success.

Our teams also work with industry partners, universities and other college centres for the transfer of technology to increase access to and optimize fish farm effluent treatment methods. Organic matter and fish farming waste must be treated responsibly in a way that encourages the development of industrial synergies. In concrete terms, Merinov’s team tries to support fish farmers in developing sustainable and efficient approaches to their operations.
